Rolls-Royce employs about 39,000 skilled people in offices, manufacturing and service facilities in 50 countries. The Group has a strong commitment to apprentice and graduate recruitment, and to further developing employee skills.
The Rolls-Royce apprentice programme has been established for more than 50 years and has about 600 advanced apprentices on its apprentice programmes across 10 sites in the UK. More than half go on to Higher Education and successfully complete HNC/Foundation degree or degree programmes. Of these, 15% pursue a further academic qualification, most frequently a Masters degree or PhD, within 10 years of their initial qualification.
Rolls-Royce invests in excess of £30 million per year in the skills development and training needs of its workforce. Recently, we have been rated as the number one for engineering and 25th overall in The Times top 100 rating of graduate employees

Environment and sustainability
Rolls-Royce is determined to make an effective response to the problem of climate change and other environmental concerns. We have the scientific technical knowledge to help address these challenges and ensure we can meet the future power needs of society in a responsible way. In 2008, Rolls-Royce and its partners invested £885 million on research and development, two-thirds of which had the objective of further improving the environmental aspects of its products, in particular the reduction of emissions.
